Las Animas County
Las Animas County is the largest county in Colorado, only slightly smaller than the State of Connecticut. It has a population of 15,000, most of whom live in Trinidad, the county seat. Las Animas County is the southernmost Colorado County along the I-25 Corridor. Trinidad is just 14 miles from the New mexico State Line.

Huerfano County
Huerfano (pronounced "WHERE-fan-oh") County is located just north of Las Animas County. It has a population of around 8,000, about half of whom live in Walsenburg, the county seat. It's landscape is dominated by the majestic Spanish Peaks.
